Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal

 

There are a number of reasons that makes roof cleaning an important part of property maintenance.

An abundance of moss can cause water to be retained on your roof and can cause your tiles to become porous, not to mention the added weight from the water sodden moss. Hairline cracks can appear as the living organisms continue to grow and push inbetween cracks widening them.

Moss on a roof will also roll down into gutters and can cause frequent blockages.

Then there is the cosmetic aspect. A clean moss-free roof can look very attractive to potential buyers. Forever having to brush up the moss from all over your pathways or patio is also part and parcel of having a moss laden roof.

We offer a couple of different methods of cleaning your roof, dependent upon the customer’s requirements. Are you looking to just remove the moss and then have the tiles treated with an anti-fungal treatment to kill off any remaining spores and to prevent the moss from growing back for a while, or are you wanting moss removed and tiles cleaned so that their true colour shines through?

Before any moss removal is undertaken, we will carry out a visual roof survey as well as a full risk assessment.

 

Manual Moss Removal & Treatment

 

Moss is removed from the roof tiles via the scraping method. Specialist tools are used to carefully scrape the moss from the roof tiles. Once all moss has been removed, the roof is then treated with an anti-fungal treatment. This will kill any remaining spores and prolong any regrowth. You can then have the roof sprayed with an anti-fungal treatment every few years to keep the moss at bay.

Gutters will be cleared out as soon as the roof moss removal is complete. This is carried out via our Gutter Vac System.

 

Moss Removal, Tile Clean & Treatment

 

Moss is removed via a combination of scraping using specialist scraping tools and a surface cleaner on a very low pressure. This method can give an instant transformation to your roof where the tiles are brought back to life.

The roof is then treated with an anti-fungal treatment. This will kill any remaining spores and prolong any regrowth. You can then have the roof sprayed with an anti-fungal treatment every few years to keep the moss at bay.
